Valve Trim Parts

VALVE TRIM INDUSTRIES’ expertise is in the manufacturing and rebuilding of severe-service valve components. For over 50 years we’ve set the industry standard in producing congruent O.E.M. valve trim parts such as plugs, stems, cages, seats, bonnets and guide bushings for virtually every control valve manufacturer in all shapes and sizes. We can reverse-engineer any valve part, new or used, with our hi-tech CMM equipment. VTI stocks a wide range of mill-certified metals and alloys such as multiple varieties of stainless steel, Inconel®, Hastelloy® and tungsten-carbide. Our in-shop capabilities range from state-of-the-art CNC machining to precision grinding to hard surfacing and specialty coatings such as Stellite® overlay, Ion-Nitride, precision heat-treatments and HVOF. VTI can apply hard-facing on all critical areas such as seated and wear locations to extend the user-life of your valves. This hard surface provides protection against cavitations, flashing / erosion, vibration / noise, turbulence, corrosion and abrasion that can so often occur. VTI also prides itself on providing emergency services and exceptionally fast delivery for new parts and repairs, especially during forced outages. If you have a valve question or need support, please call one of our technical sales reps for immediate assistance. Provided below is a gallery of actual components that VTI has manufactured new replacement parts for or has completely refurbished.

Disk Stack Repairs With Micro-Welding

Pictured is a multi-stage disk stack that has been pulled out of service. Most plants throw these away and are forced to purchase new ones from the OEM, not knowing VTI has the experience and ability to refurbish them.

VTI specializes in a rare, state-of-the-art overlaying process called ‘Microscopic-Welding’. By utilizing this precise technique for repairs, it allows plants to spend a fraction of the money and time required by the OEM to supply new parts.

Taking a close look at the super-fine Inconel® weld-beading in this picture helps valve maintenance machinists and mechanics alike better appreciate the precision and quality of VTI disk stack repair techniques.

After micro-welding and precision CNC machining, the final product speaks for itself. All parts are carefully inspected by our engineers before released with approval.

Plasma Transfer Arc (PTA) Hard-Face Weld Overlay

Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) is a high energy, inert gas welding process. Argon is used for arc plasma supply, powder transport and molten material shielding. It produces a very high-quality deposit offering optimal protection with minimal dilution or deformation of the base material. It is a process that deposits very precise coatings of perfectly controlled alloys on mechanical parts that are subject to intense wear, significantly extending their service life. PTA technology is particularly effective in protection against corrosion, thermal shock and abrasion. A wide range of overlay alloys is available for practically any part. Some alloys are very hard, others are softer with hard abrasion-resistant particles dispersed in a matrix. PTA can be used perform butter-coats for controlled heat rate of expansion protection, as well as hard-facing prior to finish machining. Certain alloys are made to rebuild a part to a required dimension while others are designed to be a final overlay that protects the work surface.

Precision Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is a dedicated and precise process that Valve Trim Industries uses to create a 3-Dimensional surface drawing or solid model of an existing part. These drawings can then be used to modify the existing part or to machine a new one to OEM form, fit and function size. The data collection process is accomplished by utilizing the following methods:

  • CMM inspection
  • Optical digitizing
  • Physical measurement
  • NDE Testing
  • Laser Inspection

The collected data is then processed using high-tech software programs to prepare it for integrating into a CAD model. The finished CAD is then detailed or modified to the customer’s specifications and design enhancements. Finally, it is prepared for converting to Master-CAM and processed for manufacturing.
